Smoking bans are public policies, including legal prohibitions and occupational health and safety regulations, that restrict smoking in workplaces and public places. Laws implementing bans on indoor smoking have been introduced by many countries in various forms over the years, with legislators citing scientific evidence that shows tobacco smoking is often harmful to or fatal for the smokers themselves and for those subjected to passive smoking.
The U.S. does not have federal smoking control legislation. You can find a list of smoking bans in the United States at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_smoking_bans_in_the_United_States

Each city passes their own ordinances regarding cigarettes. A city 100 miles from us is totally smoke free (bars, restaurants, etc.). Our city is smoke free in government buildings. One mall is smoke free, others aren't. Some restaurants are totally smoke free.
