How come in CSI they never turn on the lights while searching for clues....?

The small flashlights are not normal flashlights. They have a special bulb that makes things you can't see (with a normal flashlight) jump right out to them - similar to a black light - besides they don't need a large light to find what they're looking for.

probably because the "worthless'' flashlight they are using is of the special kind which shows blood traces eventhough the crime scene has been cleaned up to hide the crime or to at least threw the investigators off-course... and these works best in dark areas....

same reason most medical shows show patients in bed with no siderails up,a particular nurse working the or today and a nursing unit the next...these shows have no clue as to real life activities of the professions they are showing
