All Bush wants is everything. After he gets everything,
he'll be claiming the planets.
That might be a good thing - we could send him to one.
He can take Halliburton & Cheney with him, to build
his new home.

Ah, one of these crazy 'We Went To War With Iraq For The Oil' peoples. Alright, lets piece this together and than we'll see if you still believe this whole oil conspiracy theory thing.
1) Only about 20% (a bit less than that actually) of the oil that the United States imports comes from the Middle East (mostly from Saudi Arabia). That is, the Middle East in its entirety. The rest we produce ourselves or import from Africa, other North American companies or countries in Europe.
2) If we are there for the oil, why don't we have it yet? Look at how much we have spent in Iraq...somewhere around 300 Billion dollars. And that number grows everyday. We are literally bleeding money and lives over in Iraq, just thinking that we went over there for 'profit'...with those numbers hanging over us, is ridiculous.
You want a truth? We are the ONLY country in the world that will invade and destroy a country, than sacrifice money *and* lives to help rebuild that country. If France (if they could win a war), Germany or Russia had done the invading, you could bet that Iraq would still be in shambles, but they would have their oil. Any other country in the world would go immediately for the 'black gold' in Iraq. We didn't. We secured the oil, because its one of the key factors in re-stabilizing Iraq (good economy and whatnot) but we aren't taking it with us back to the U.S.
The United States is building one of the few really stable countries in the middle east...a democracy at that. And it isn't cheap. And we aren't doing it to profit off of.
That is that.

When will you admit that it isn't about OIL? Yeah, let's also forget about the schools the troops have built and the hospitals they've refurbished. Securing oil rigs and refineries might be a could idea amidst the insecurity lest the imported "insurgents" get a hold of them. But you just keep living in your hate-filled little bubble world.

I find it odd that Bush wants the oil and yet we continue to pay for it?
Has anyone gotten any of this free oil???
Has it ever occurred to you maybe the entire world's economy runs on oil and maybe avoiding a global economic depression might be more important than guarding some stupid books?

Why would he annouce to the entire country that he wants to Ethanol/alternative fuels to make up at least 20% of all US energy supplies by 2017 if all he wants is oil? Wouldn't moving towards alternative energy sources be counter productive to his supposed oil conquests?

You are another victim of stupidity if you believe that! Bush will never admit that all he wants is oil because he couldn't care less about it! Educate yourself before making such offensive statements!

I don't think thats what he wants at all. I think he wants something, but I have yet to figure out what that is. If it was oil he wanted that would suggest he was acting somewhat unselfishly...I don't believe he is. I am curious to see where this...we MUST find an alternative to oil....is going.

When it becomes true. It hasn't yet. And I don't think it will.
Why don't you ask the soldiers who have BEEN there whether or not they've taken any oil? I have, and guess what. They haven't!
