Black Magic Woman.
Now when you speak of 'best song' you open a floodgate of songs. Carlos has had many musical incarnations throughout his storied career. His jazzy stage is one of my favorites.

Black Magic Woman or Oye Como Va. You must remember, Carlos has been at it since 1966! 40 years!!! So when you say Carlos Santana, you are talking tons of music over about three generations. His early stuff is what established him, and what made him known. His recent stuff, while good, is not what he is known for.

You do know that Carlos Santana doesn't sing right? Anyway, the other guy forgot to mention Europa....which is not a song, because it's an instrumental.

I agree with all of you! Smooth brought him back.. but Evil Ways, Oye Como Va.. Black Magic Woman were earlier hits by Santana.. Need to bring back more bay area bands.. ie.. Son's of Chaplin, Aum, Clover, Pablo Cruise.. Stoneground.

I think his best is Why Don't You and I. That's really the only song I like by him.

Those are two different questions. His best known song is probably "Smooth".
