Is it ok to use a capo made 4 an acoustic guitar on my electric guitar?

EDIT:
The reason i ask is that an acoustic one doesnt seem to have as much padding as an electric one (i was looking at Jim Dunlops capos)

If his acoustic-electric is a steel-string, you can use the same capo for both. Capos differ according to whether they are made for a curved or flat fretboard (flat fretboards are found on classical guitars) and according to the type of adjustment mechanism (which is a matter of personal preference). They are not classified according to whether they're for acoustics or electrics. Shubb capos are preferred by many players.

In addition to these great answers.....consider this......capo's that utilize a spring for clamping pressure will "squash thin electric guitar strings" causing your tuning to go sharp......while capo's with adjustable screw tension can be set just perfect and not knock your guitar out of tune....another pointer is to place the capo very closely behind the fret and adjust the tension while struming the strings at the same time, stopping just as the "rattles" go away. Any more pressure will cause you to play sharp.

Not knowing what kind of capo you have.. It really should not be a problem.. The electric guitar might have a narrow neck.. but I think it should work okay.

Should be, I can see no reason it would not work, provided it fits the neck without damaging it. All of my capos fit both my accoustics and electrics with no problems.

Yes your capo will work. You are changing the key of your frets when you use it. regardless of fretboard.
