Money. Notice that all the review excerpts on the new ad are all one word: "action," "killer," etc.? That's usually a good sign that it's not going to be good. Think of how out of context a one word quote can be taken; i.e. the word "action" could have been pulled from a sentence that read, "This waste of film gives the action genre a bad name."

There have been many many many terrible films with great casts. Casts can help...but ultimately films fail or succeed based on their script and direction. I haven't seen smokin' aces..but judging from the previews...it looks pretty awful. I'm a little tired of the whole hip young criminal thing.

I saw it and thought it was a great movie. thr acting was outstanding from jeremy piven and ryan reynolds. jason bateman was so funny and so different than anything he has ever done. i really liked the movie, and will buy the DVD when it comes out.
