I would have to say that if you want a good I mean good down comforter go to QVC.com, they have a brand called Northern Nights and the feathers they used are washed several hundred times before they put them into the blankets. These blankets are very reasonably priced and affordable, do not lose feathers like most down blankets, and are hypoallergenic. The best part is that they are machine washable so you don't have to spring for that expensive dry cleaning bill when it's time to clean your blanket. QVC offers easy pay which means you could pay for your blanket on deferred payments. And there is a 30 day no questions asked money back guarantee. I highly recommend this blanket. You won't be disappointed.

The Company Store! Great comforters. Have had mine for more than 10 years. Tons of colors, weights, etc. Some are a bit expensive, but they have quite a few ON SALE NOW! They also have a lifetime guarentee on their down comforters. I recommend the La Crosse. Good weight and nice and warm.

Look for one that is really plump, filled with a lot of down. Also, it will be warmer if it doesnt' have too many lines sewn across. The less holes from sewing machine needles, the warmer.
Fiber filled comforters are good, too. Mine warms up in a hurry, and keeps me warm all night.

Down comforters are graded based upon the amount of down in the, and it is given as ounces. Meaning that a 4oz has more down in it than a 2oz. It is also generally warmer.
