I'm preparing a document that will need to notarized. In most cases I would put:
STATE OF _________)
)SS
COUNTY OF _______)

in this case would just putting:

DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA) SS

be the correct way to structure this?

(the middle line between state & county would be lined up; but it won't do in this format)

Thank You

There are no legal subdivisions in DC. There are unofficial "neighborhoods", but these do not have defined boundaries. The District of Columbia and the City of Washington are two separate entities, but with exactly the same boundaries.
I'm pretty sure you can leave out the county, and substitute "state" with "district". The notary public should tell you if it needs to be changed.
