On an Apple, can your record something with the built-in camera, save it, and use it as a video file in say iLife or Final Cut Studio, or do you need a camcorder to record, hook it up to a USB and do it that way?
What are my options? Thanks!

I have a macbook and I record through the iSight camera all the time! Open iMovie and create a new project. Once the program is open, click on CLIPS on the bottom right hand side of the app. Once you have done that, move the icon on the bottom the the creen from SCISSORS to the CAMERA looking thing. Once you have done that, the camera activates itself and you will see yourself on the screen. Click RECORD WITH ISIGHT. Don't ya love it!! From there you can edit the clip! Good Luck!

Just open iMovie, at the mid-bottom right there is a switch...move the switch to the left (toward the little picture of the video camera) and you will see yourself. Click record and you will be importing live video and sound from your camera.
You can also import video from your camcorder or digital camera...

If the MAC has a built-in camera you can record video. You should be able to use iMovie to capture the video.

I am pretty sure you can do that. I dont own one yet, but I use them all the time in school, and its an apple, so that would make sense it could do that without needing any 3rd party conversion software.

Have you tried it? give it a try if you havnt.

sorry I cant help more, I get my macbook in march.
