It could be that your life lacks purpose, or it could be that you're clinically depressed. If it is depression, you need to seek professional help because no amount of happiness can cure depression. There is an assessment you can take online to find out if it is:
http://www.depressionhurts.com/selfassess/selfassess.jsp?reqNavId=2
There's also a lot of information on the web site that should be able to help you seek treatment if you are depressed.
Good luck!

Fisrt of all change your Avatar. Make it a happy face ok? No such thing as a neverending emptiness. Time will heal and so will you. I'm guessing your young here. Keep your head up high because their are more friends out there. Can't make new friends with a sour face hanging down to your chest. Just know that you are not the only one who's lost a friend. It's part of life. Did you try asking her why she gets physically sick around you? If she was a really close friend she would of told you. Maybe she has some illness she does not want you to know about also.
Take care.

Take up a hobby. Go to the movies. Make new friends. I have been married three times and am now single again. I know how you feel. I work all day and go home to an empty house. All of my friends live over an hour away, but do you know what keeps me going? I think about all the good things that have happened in my life. I think about when I was a child or teen and all the friends I had and all the fun we had together. Life is cruel sometimes. We just have to pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off and go on even if we don't want to. Let me ask you something. Is the reason your friend gets sick around you because you are depressed all the time. If so, the only thing I can tell you is to go get some help. You must not blame your friend. It's kind of like if you have a cold or the flu. If you go around people you love you can make them sick by being around them. You need to get some help and start feeling better about yourself, so when you are around your friend you don't make her sick. Don't just sit around the house feeling sorry for yourself. Go get some help. If you can't afford it, go to the county mental health department. They will help you. I promiss. If you need someone to talk to feel free to email me. mbbaker55@yahoo.com. I don't have a home computer, but I will answer your email when I get to work Monday morning. I promiss. Do something you like to do for yourself this weekend. It will help. Don't feel alone. I'll be your friend.

Well, you're obviously extremely depressed. If you don't feel like seeing a psychiatrist and possibly getting some medication, I'd do whatever it takes to get out of the house, and do something...anything to help other people that you don't know.
Yeah, I know it sounds corny, but it's a huge help. And obviously, you do need to meet some close friends...they don't need to be many...just maybe one or two.
Just try not to isolate youself so much. And the great thing about the intenet that we didn't have years ago, is that you can reach out anonymously and get some pretty decent answers and meet some new people.

meditate
below the emptiness is joy happiness, peace, and laughter..something in side is telling you to fall, inside to find the love that is in your heart,i sound like a broken record some times , but you cant love others until you start loving your own self.
in yoga we are all one so if you love your self naturally you will love others
i went into the [real void] once and i wasn't lonely.depression sucks, but you have to find a number of simple things you can do every day to keep you positive..
around my room i have religious inspirational pictures, so on the days i feel like crap, i don't notice them consciously, but sub consciously ,i am reminded of the times that i do see them and feel better. the same with inspirational music, play it when you are down to lift your mood
please don't ever... play county music when you are down...;like adding gasoline to the fire.
fill your life with thees [emergency measures] the same as if you would put bottled water in you car so if you ran out of gas you would have water to drink
BE PREPARED.

Have you tried seeing a psychiatrist. They can help with diagnosis and medication. It sounds a bit like clinical depression check with a professional. We all need help sometimes the sooner the better.

Please see a doctor...If you are in highschool or college see the school nurse. This sounds like depression. It can be treated and you can feel better and you will find new friends....
