I just got done watching this video over at www.wherethehellismatt.com

and it kinda inspired me to travel around the world...or even the United States at least, when I'm older and have money.

Have you ever had an ambition to travel around the world --- or better yet, have you ever traveled around the world and what was it like?

I LOVE travel...whether it's just a weekend getaway to somewhere close or jumping on a plane to get to another country! I've lived in Europe and been to most of the countries there. I've also been to Canada (I grew up in Upstate NY...so it was nearby)...but never to Mexico (though I've lived or visited all of the border states). I don't enjoy slumming. If I go someplace, I would like to be feel welcome and enjoy moving among the citizens comfortably. Hope you find the time...when you get 'older' or have mo' money...to travel, it's great!

Travelling is a passion for me. I enjoy the differences that travelling brings. People who don't like to travel, or complain a lot when travelling usually don't enjoy the differences. They usually complain that they can't have things the way they are accustomed to at home. For instance, Americans may want eggs in the morning and not everyone in the world eats eggs in the morning. So, some Americans will complain about that and ask for a special order of eggs when in other countries.

To me, the point when travelling is to enjoy the unique experience and the differences. Eat the way the locals do. Learn a little of the language and interact with the people. Read about the cultural differences and you will understand that the way we do things in America isn't automatically "the right way". It's a matter of perspective.

Travelling should make you more open-minded and less likely to be afraid of foreigners. You begin to realize that people are very much the same all over the world.

Travelling is a wonderful experience! Allow yourself to enjoy the differences! :)

I am a Filipino American. I am presently here in the Philippines. I had been to Baguio,Boracay Cebu, Davao, Palawan for free. These are sponsored by drug companies since I am a doctor. They do not sponsor all doctors. I had been with presents to Ilocos Sur and Norte and Pagudpud. These places I had been telling you are frequently visited by tourists and some local residents.
I had been to Hongkong , California & Nevada. I had been in San Francisco, Contra Costa County ( Concord, Martinez, Antioch, Oakland ), Valejo, Sonoma, Napa, LA, San Diego, Orange County
( Irvine, Alisso Viejo, Laguna Niguel), Simi Valley, Malibu, Camarillo, El Centro California.
California is so big that even some residents hadnt been in some places.
It is interesting to travel but tiring too. Definitely it is also expensive. I had travelled the 50 US States vicariously through Microsoft Encarta for Kids, Premium DVD and Yahoo travel. Yahoo answers definitely helped me learn these places also from real people. I had extended my study to Canada, Australia and Europe.
I had tabulated the 50 US States in their order, capitals, their nicknames, places to see, famous sports for the place.
There are many nice places around the world but definitely the best place is still your own home. I had asked my daddy when he was still alive what part of the world did he liked best. He is a retired U.S. Navy. He said the best is my home. When I was travelling California, I remembered my father, definitely there is no better place than your own home. My friends and relatives are hospital enough to accommodate me during my travel. However, no matter how good they are, you will still miss your own bed and definitely your own family.

I haven't the done the world in one tour, but have been to over 13 different countries and it was simply AWESOME seeing 'history' up close and personal and experiencing the variety of cultures and food and architecture.

I have a friend who took a year off from work and with his best friend, they did a world trip that started with Canada, then onto to Western Europe, Eastern Europe, the Far East, then Southeast Asia, then South America...They couldn't get in most countries in Africa - I guess it would take at least two years to do the entire world.........

I love to travel, but I think I'd get tired of living out of a suitcase for that long....would rather chop up my travel in segments! :-)
