I know this may sound harsh but depending on what part of the country you live in, if you speak really good English or have no accent at all then you could easily ask for $70+ for a 3,000 sq ft house. It's good from a business stand point to price it by the sq footage rather than the hour for repeat customers, since you'll eventually get more efficient as you go along in the same house each week, but be careful not to work less than 2 hours minimum if you're charging $60-$70 for the house. People just don't feel comfortable paying a cleaning person $40/hr.

My daughter charges 20.00 per hour. If she works on Sundays or holidays, she asks time and a half. She has her own cleaning business and is so busy, she has to turn down new clients. Took her awhile to get going, but after about a month, she had more than she could handle. Word of mouth is the best way to increase a business of this sort. In the beginning, she printed up business cards and put them around town.

Some companies have a set budget for each year. For example for an apartment community you could ask what is your turnover rate? Ask what thier yearly budget is and do the math. It will give you a good idea of what to charge when you know how many 1,2,3 br or townhomes they have. You have to word your questions carefully. They dont want to give any info but if for a moment they think you will give them a standing price for all apts reguardless of size you might get your info. You could also pretend to be a resident and ask the current cleaners what they would charge to thouroughly clean your apt

well, call around and check the going prices in your area. then cut it down by about 25% to get started. if they charge 100 charge 75.but you have to remember that all houses are not charged the same the price that the cleaning companys will give you is their hourly charge, which is what they charge the FIRST time they come into your house to clean, there is a set price after that.you have to charge on a house to house basis for your regular houses. so if their hourly charge is(on average) 60 dollars, you should charge 45(then you will be competition) then give them their weekly or biweekly charge after you clean them the first time. but since you dont have a customer base yet you have to go cheaper so people will be enticed to try your service, if your the same price as a reputable company, who will they choose?

I had my own cleaning business in Texas. I charged $20 hr for a "make ready" and $5 per window. On a weekly house, I usually charged according to how long I thought it would take me. Take in to consideration if they have pets and or kids. Charge $2.50 per load of laundry + $3 if they want ironing. Also, if you are going to use your own supplies, you want to charge a little more. There are a few things to consider, and I would say you have to base the price on the individual job.

Depends upon where you are located and what you will be cleaning. Generally, in most cities here in MT, the rates are between $12 and $16 per hour for general house cleaning. Using my pressure washer, I give estimates based upon a base rate of $20 to cover repairs and supplies, and $12 an hour.

Call some cleaning services that are in your area---look in the yellow pages of the phone book...Just say "what do you charge for..." etc etc. You dont have to tell them you are opening up your own business, you dont have to tell them anything.

Good luck
