You can go to a pharmacy and get an analgesic gel for use in mouth ulcers. They help numb the area for about 1 or 2 hours and are completely safe to use in the mouth. They work well on the inside of the lip too. The brand I use is Bonjela.

Well, part of the issue could be that you are biting too much on your lip and has nothing to do with your braces. I've never had braces and because of the amount of time I put in practicing, I developed a callous (sp?) on the inside of my lip. Some people bite so hard they actually puncture the skin and bleed. Most of the time if you just continue, the callous will build and it won't hurt.

Suck on an ice cube. It will freeze and numb the painful area.
Or if you could a numbing medication called Anbesol.
Anbesol is an oral anesthetic gel. The active ingredient, benzocaine, constitutes 20 % of a 0.25 oz (7.1 g) tube.
Anbesol is used for temporary relief of:
Toothaches
Gum pain, especially due to teething
Canker sores
Denture pain

Rinse your mouth with peroxide a few times a day. It will help it heal faster. For the pain, try Orajel or Ambesol.

There are a couple of things you can try...rinse your mouth with warm salty water, rinse your mouth with warm water and peroxide, and/or buy an oral analgesic like orajel.

just cut your lip off....just kidding. try orajel, regular orajel and be sure to use orajel brand only, the others really don't measure up...especially the generics. try saline solution. otherwise, see a doctor, he may want to give you something.
