My wife and I have two (2) of our neices visiting from out-of-town, and my wife wants to take them to the circus next weekend. We've been married for over ten (10) years, and I have no idea how to tell her that there is no way in **** I'm going to the circus.

Clowns really give me the creeps. I don't even go a friend's house because he collects clowns. Go figure. I think of it this way: If I don't go where they are, they shouldn't come where I am. I know that I'm not going to get over this in one (1) week. Help me?

Yes it is possible to get over it in one week. You really aught to try something called EFT (Emotion Freedom Technique). My entire family has been using it for years and it has done wonders for our emotional health. My husband got rid of a severe phobia of climbing ladders within five minutes of using the technique. Here's the website where you can get info on how to use the technique on yourself: http://www.emofree.com/ . They have a manual you can down-loud for free to learn how to do it.

By the way, I used to be terrified of clowns, too. I'd get so freaked out I would cry. That fear is totally gone now.

You don't have a very supportive wife. 10yrs and she has no care of your fears? Hope you have not kept this a secret from her for 10yrs. Just come out with and tell her the truth! If she does not understand what you are going through find out what her fear is and let her face it. Maybe then she will understand. In the mean time you should seek help with yours.
Good luck & take care.

In fact, I contracted it after reading Stephen King's IT. However, I also got over most of it by reminding myself that under the hair, nose, and makeup is just a normal human with the weaknesses of any other human.
