no, why would you call up an ex boyfriend. that would be extremely weird and awkward. you aren't in eachothers lives anymore and he would think it was really random to hear from you.

It's hard to say. You have good intentions and it may work out well for the two of you. But since it's been so long there probably has been so many changes for him and for you. These changes may prevent him from feeling the need to have you involved with him at all. I guess to sum it all up is are you prepared for a negative reaction. Who knows though, if you don't do it then you'll never know. I'm curious somewhat of why you feel the need or desire to? Saying hi isn't a bad thing but it really depends on the people involved.

Besides the awkward-ness for both of you, of calling him up after not speaking in such a long time, you also run the risk of causing problems for him with his new girlfriend/wife/kids, or leading him to believe that you want to resurrect a relationship.

I don't think that calling him up would be a good idea. Unless you're trying to spark up an old flame?
