When i think scary i think of something that is beyond my control and most people in modern life like to believe in the illusion that we control our own destiny's and this is far from true, say for example you were pressured into giving blood by one for your friends for a charity function and as time passes you watch the world around you becoming more and more chaotic, religious holy wars breaking out all over the world and the fall of modern life becomes a reality, but you are old and frail all of this takes place in some distant future when you realize that technology can't save you from the end of your life and you finally die with whatever dignity you have left, only to awaken 80 to 120 years in the future when life has changed so much that you can't fit in anymore, the scientists reveal to you the reason why you your body was placed in cryostasis without your knowledge, simply because you have a very rare blood type in the future and the secret government behind the democracy put you there as a precaution in case such a scenario became a possibility in the near future, now in the movie your character is a young person because the technolgy in the future is capable of genetic manipulation of certain gene's and as you awaken from your deep slumber only to realize the hoplessness of your fate, you can't escape from the lab where there holding you and you most submit to some very unusual scientific procedures that comprimise your beliefs or your moral beliefs, this hoplessness becomes the theme for your scary movie.

I presume you're showing DVD movies, as opposed to the old-fashioned reel and screen type. Generally you can rent current scary movies at video stores or even at the public library. The scariest movie I ever saw was "The Exorcist". After seeing that one, I slept with the lights on for a month. You might even consider some of the oldies, like Frankenstein, Dracula and the Wolf Man. They may seem a little corny compared to today's blood and gore type, but back in their heyday, they were considered the epitome of fright films.

Do something along the lines of the SAW movies - they are scary and you could creat all kinds of different scenarios.
