Hi I have a 1987 Plymouth Reliant K and I havnt had a need to drive it this winter but ocasionly i've started it up and have had rediculous white smokey exhaust thats rather intoxicating. More recently I looked under my car to notice what looks like sludge puddles 1 under my engine didn't look to see exactly which part it was under and 1 about a foot away from my rear left wheel. It's been in my car port the whole time has only had some snow on the trunk and front bumper from the wind. Theres also old burnt oil I think on my engine block but seems very old so probably not related.

I am looking thru my magic ball here is what I see, very dimly I see water vapor burning in the exhaust, which is normal, on a start up after sitting for a long time in cold weather,I assume there is antifreeze in the engine, if it's low you could have been burning water and anti freeze, the leak at the rear wheel is most likely rear differential oil or brake fluid, put some on your finger and wipe it on a paint can if the paint comes off it's brake fluid, if it is black it and oily it is most likely oil coming out the exhaust pipe because you have a hole in the pipe and that's were it leaks out, ad could be antifreeze, If there is Burnt oil on the engine then you may have a leaky valve cover gasket or an ac equipped hose may have leaked out its oil or even the power steering fluid, look at the color it will help you figure most of it out.

Well your oil has to heat up to opporationg temperature so you need to let it warm up for about 5 to 10 minutes is good enough because you need to warm up your car to where the bubbles in the oil are gone, any more than that your engine overheats while just in idle so you need to give it like 5 to 10 minutes tops and just slowly put your foot on the gas to a crawling pace and just give it time to run at a slow pace before you hit like 40 miles an hour...

Burnt oil maybe, but the think white smoke with a wierd smell also points toward a cabd catalytic converter. Hard to tell without seeing myself.

how strange. im listening to Relient K right now... but as for your problem, the smoke may be from the oil thts seeped down into the cylinders from the valve seals. it wont really hurt anything, but will continue untill you fix it. if it clears up after running a while, that is most likely the problem, but oil usually results in blueish smoke. other than that, i dont know.

Check the coolant level to make sure that it is not low on coolant could be anti-freeze seeping into it. I doubt it but make sure as it could be a leaky head gasket. More apt to be what has already been mentioned. Oil leaking past vave seals.

that's why, in my opinion, in case you at the instant can not determining its situation, you mustn't purchase it. it is your duty, thoroughly, to repair regardless of's incorrect with it. So why no longer decide what's incorrect with it earlier you purchase? you could attempt to pin it on the seller, yet that's loopy. you need to assume the seller is an entire liar. adventure shows that's the case, spectacular? So act hence. you need to assume that Carfax data do no longer demonstrate the full tale (reason they do no longer). Then, you need to act hence. Carfax is in user-friendly terms a fashion of having cowards to pay $40 so as that they are in a position to experience like the screwups are somebody else's fault. great employer style, yet valueless suggestion. The human techniques would not deal properly with this occasion. people are so conscious of speaking to a minimum of one yet another that they do no longer deal properly with a difficulty the place the spoken words are to be ignored. yet that's what you need to do. the seller will lie. i will assure you he will lie. So what are you going to do approximately it? If it became me, i could check out the vehicle, yet you elect. performing rationally looks loopy particularly circumstances, would not it?
