Check your tone of voice. Do you request or demand? Ask people who will be straight up with you. If you want to improve yourself, that's the best way. However, be able to accept what they tell you.

I'm old and have kids. I've told my kids all their life, it's not what you say, it's how you say it. The message be the same, but it's how the listener perceives it. It they perceive you as an insincere, crude, ******, well, sorry, but perception is reality.

Think about what people say to you that hurts your feelings. How often do you say the same things to your peers, or people around you?

Once again, it's not what you say, it's how you say it.

Hunny just keep on being you. I am in the same boat I tell them, I don't apologize for being who I am. If these people constantly complain about you and they don't take the time to inquire instead of pointing fingers. It's their lost. Keep being you and don't let anyone steal your joy.

Are you blunt, sarcastic, short-tempered? Evaluate yourself, or just ask people to honestly tell you what you are doing that they find offensive. Be open and willing to accept their criticism of you and be willing to change. That's a good first step.

Maybe it's your tone of voice? Vocal inflections? Try a softer approach.
