The hard but effective way is to get a small screw drive and take the keyboard apart. Then use cotton swab dipped in alcohol and go at it.

The easy, but much less effective way is to shake it upside down and use some canned air in between the keys.

The keys come off of the keyboard, just for the purpose of cleaning. Take a small screwdriver and gently pry on the edge of the keypad. It will come off very easily.

Don't take them all off at once (unless you got a 2nd keyboard for a reference) or else you'll forget how they go back on. Take a few off at a time.

You can soak them in a bowl of warm water and a drop of two of dishwashing liquid. Just wipe them with a rag.

If you only care about getting the tops clean (and not the sides) then just rub a wet, slightly sudsy rag across them.

By the way, I don't recommend removing the Shift keys. They, for some reason, have like a little piece of wire that acts like a spring or something; can be tricky to get back on. But the other keys are normal and you can not mess it up by removing them.

You can use an air spray can that you can buy just about anywhere computer accessories are sold; or a trick I use is post it notes. Fold it in half so the sticky side is out , then run the sticky part in between the keys of the keyboard. It gets all the dust and other stuff out.
