Your question is based on a false premise - perhaps due to some experiences you may have had.
America is, if nothing else, is one of the few countries where you can freely express your discontent, criticism or opinions without government retribution.
The people who call you a traitor for doing so aren't particularly bright - ignore them and they'll go away.

Thats the greatest thing about this country... you can say what you DONT like about it, get together with other people who feel as you do, and work together for positive change in American society.
It's too bad, when overzealous "uberpatriots" (those for whom NO ONE in government can be criminal, unless they're Democrat) confuse (or delberately switch) criticism with treason. That's the way the leaders think in China, in Iran and in the old Communist Soviet Union.
But, that Free Speech part of the Bill of Rights says theyre entitled to their opinions too, no matter how boneheaded the rest of humanity thinks calling a lying President a liar is in fact committing treason.
It just occurred to me. Republicans are like the kid in class in grade school, who would be put in charge when the teacher had to leave the room. The same kid who got scared when you made fun of the teacher behind her back, the kid who says, "Oooooohhh, youre gonna get in troooooublllllee...."

It's not the criticizing - it's the constant flow from the left giving aid and comfort to the enemy . What is it that you are thinking when you hear statements from the terrorists calling for Americans to vote democrat ?Can you not process that thought ?

Being critical of the country in itself is not a problem with me but if you plan to criticize, please be thoughtful about it and don't just bash.
We often learn important lessons from those who have an opinion different than our own.

Because you are being disloyal and are giving hope to the enemy. It has nothing to do with freedom of expression, it has to do with sticking together in hard times. Heck, even little kids figure out pretty early that if the parents are divided on some issue regarding them, they can easily exploit the situation and pit one parent against another.
Al Qaeda has sent a message to leaders of the Democratic party that credit for the defeat of congressional Republicans belongs to the terrorists.
December 22, 2006 2:28 PM
In a portion of the tape from al Qaeda No. 2 man, Ayman al Zawahri, made available only today, Zawahri says he has two messages for American Democrats.
"The first is that you aren't the ones who won the midterm elections, nor are the Republicans the ones who lost. Rather, the Mujahideen -- the Muslim Ummah's vanguard in Afghanistan and Iraq -- are the ones who won, and the American forces and their Crusader allies are the ones
Zawahri calls on the Democrats to negotiate with him and Osama bin Laden, not others in the Islamic world who Zawahri says cannot help.
"And if you don't refrain from the foolish American policy of backing Israel, occupying the lands of Islam and stealing the treasures of the Muslims, then await the same fate," he said.

Who knows?
I hate when people say, "IF YOU DON'T LIKE ____ GET OUT OF MY COUNTRY!"
Do you think Bush, Cheney, Pelosi, the Clintons, etc, became politicians because they were just FINE AND DANDY with the way the country was being run? Hell no! THe political system is about constant change and evolution. Without criticism, without change, our country is worthless.

If I'm not mistaken, in your country you are free to tell what ou want. So criticising America if you are an America is normal. Otherwise it would not be a democraty but a dictatorship where you have to be obediant. And what if a foreigner criticise America ? Would he be a terrorist ?

if you're american, just keep on protesting. its your right. but remember, freedom of speech doesn't just go one way.
"If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality."
-- Bishop Desmond Tutu

They are attempting to silence your dissent because they have no argument for the injustice and it serves their purpose, they try to degrade any one who does not agree with them; the exact opposite of democracy.
