No it is not legal.
Why? Because in removing the "50% more free" part, you damage the rest of the bar, making it not fit for selling, thus costing the store money on the item. So you are, in fact, stealing from them.

No because who determines where that 50 % is. It could be in many places throughout the bar and you may get some of the free and some of the not free thus being a thief. If bored go grab a bar and take 50 % free. The cops will keep you entertained.

The word "extra" indicates that you still have to buy the regular sized candy in order to get the benefit of the "free" 50%.
You'd probably be arrested for shoplifting...maybe if you get a magistrate with a sense of humor they'd dismiss the case.

The key word is "extra." 50% extra means 50% *more* than 100%, or 150%. So only 1/3 of the bigger bar is actually the extra part. So grab that third and enjoy.

Read the label again. I bet it actually says 50% Larger (than our regular size). The word FREE is usually not there.

50% extra is not half. 50% extra is based on what the whole is and 50% of that added on. so if you took half of the whole then you would be stealing a portion of the whole . stealing is illegal

As long as the half you broke off was the half that was free, you might be ok, but I have a sneaking suspicion that the storeowner would dispute that point.

Most of those packages (probably all) say "with purchase" somewhere on them....
