Standby is just your computer powering by and then anyone can just move your mouse and then if you were on the internet they can be on where you left off. Some internets have a time limit and then are automatically logged out.

If you log out. That means you are disconnecting from the internet totally. To get on the internet you need to log in with YOUR password and ID(computer name you use)

You could use one password for everything but bad cuz if someone ever learned your password for logging in then they could get in all your other programs.

Or if they see you logging in one program, then they could access your site, when you was not looking. Also, if they did access your site you do know that you would not be able to access it either. You will get a can not connect notice or something.

If you are at home, you may leave the computer on standby while you go eat, watch a movie, or chase your gf around the apartment. Then when you are thru you can just click the mouse and you are back to where you started from on the internet, without having to reboot or log in to the internet.
