First make sure you plugged them into the right hole, there are three holes, one for speakers, one of a microphone, and one for called "line in." If the speakers are connected to the right hole, unplug them, and plug in a pair of headsets, see if you hear any music. If you hear music, the speakers are defective, return them. If you do not hear music, double click on the speaker icon in your Systems Tray (bottom left where the time is). Make sure none of the blocks are checked (Muted), and the volume controls are turned up. Can't see a speaker icon in the Systems Tray??? Click on Start, then Control Panel, when it opens, choose Sound and Audio Devices. You will you see under the Volume tab, a button called Advanced, click that, make sure nothing is checked or turned down. Lets say everything is fine, nothing checked, etc, you should hear your music. Worst case it could be a bad sound card. Click on the last tab, Hardware under Sound and Audio Device Properties, click on properties, it should say if the sound card is working or not. Hopefully, it's just something that was muted and you will be listening to your music soon. Best of luck, chow.

make sure you plugged them into the right port. make sure they're plugged in all the way too. make sure there on. and most of all, make sure the plug powering the speakers are plugged in...

speakers that are plugged in the wrong port will not work..

if there's a green background around a port in the back or front, plug your speakers into that port..

is you're computer muted? if not. if theres a speaker in the tasks by the time when you click the arrow out. right click that click open volume control make sure you're wave is up all the way, then try moving the 'master' volume control and see if you hear anything, you'll have to let it go after moving it to hear a beeping sound. if you hear the beeping sound, you're ready..

is your audio player volume all the way down, or muted? fix that

or maybe you need a new sound card.

(first...dump your windows version in the most distant trash can possible and install 98 or XP)

now...are you sure you sound card is installed ? is there a speaker icon near the window clock ?

are you sure your speakers are connected to the sound exit of your PC ?

if your speakers have amplification(manual volume adjustment, not through the computer) arey they connected to a power source ? did you turn them on(if they have a power switch) ?

are you sure that your speakers are working ?

The speakers you plug into head phone jack need to be powered (amplified), try plugging in a head phone and see if you get anything.
