Not really much you can do here except to seperate the fish if it bothers you. The eggs will not get fertilized from another species and would only die and fungus up anyway.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but .... there it is.

a male is needed despite occurs, the only way a woman will ever lay eggs without a male is that if she before became with a male in the past you acquire her with the aid of fact the female can lay eggs some circumstances after being with the male.

Does the grey with black stripes have other fish that look like her? If there are then I would think that the male would be helping her with the eggs. If not then the chiclid is probably eating non-viable eggs. If there is a male grey with black stripes, it would be best to hatch the eggs in a fish hatchery, your pet store will know what that is. And they can explain what you need to do.

Most fish will eat their own eggs dpending on the breed but since your seeing that the male is eating the eggs you should either remove the male from the tank and put him in another tank or put a divider in the tank until all the babies are big enough not to get eatin, if you move the eggs you might kill them.

I had a pair of breeding fish that had babies all the time, it got out of control and I had too many fish. I had to sell them to the fish store.if you want to go into the business of selling fish there's alot to it and alot of money you need to invest plus not all fish stores will buy your fish so you end up with too many and their still having babies so the end result could be that all your fish die because your tank is either unstanitary or there's not enough room and they become stressed out!

What ever you decide to do you need research everything and make sure your fish are happy and heathy. GOOD LUCK

You should remove the fry eggs, the male will eat them until they are gone. These fish also may be mouth brooders, and this circle the female and male are doing is their breeding dance, they should be quivering of slightly shaking when this happens, the female drops her eggs, and the male fertilizes them, then the female picks them up in her mouth. The female will keep these eggs in her mouth until they hatch, or until she is in a fry tank by herself. You should really read some information on breeding your african cichlids, www.cichlid-forum.com or www.google.ca.
Just hope it isn't a cross breed.

the female is a convict cichlid, she is most likely laying eggs because her body is telling her to (like chickens), the texas cichild is just doing what is natural, there is no reason to keep him from the eggs, they are not breeding.
there is no reason to get any little contraptions or move the fish, when convicts do breed they defent thier viable offspring,
also these are not african they are from south america and definatly not mouth brooders

Take the male out or use glass or plexi glass to divide the aquarium. Measure what you need and the Home Depot or other Hardware store will cut it sometimes for like 25 cents a cut. Good luck,

your female sounds like a convict. when they do breed take the male out, and you will have a cool little breed of fish.

they arent going to hatch , leave him in there so he can clean up the place otherwise the eggs will just rot away there,, potentially dirtying the water up for you
