President Bush suspended habeas corpus to help prevent terrorism. I have never heard liberals cry so loud. For everyone that says FDR was the best president in 125, do they forget that FDR did the same to the Japs?

As for Lincoln, he stepped all over the constitution, denying the rights of the south to succeed from the union? Do liberals not believe in constitution?

FDR without a doubt.

Because he brought our country out of the Great Depression, created the New Deal and converted our economic system into what I call a pseudo capitalist-socialist structure. This structure is what made us the great superpower we are today.

Wow, tough question. I'd say it's FDR. Roosevelt created the WPA, which built 650,000 miles of roads, 78,000 bridges, 125,000 buildings, and 700 miles of airport runways. He is also responsible for Social Security, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the minimum wage. He also helped found the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis (now known as the March of Dimes). And he did all of this while paralyzed from the waist down.

Yes, like all presidents, he did some moronic things. The good definitely outweigh the bad, though. I can't think of another president in the last 150 years I could say that about.

I'd have to go with Kennedy! He prevented us from going to a nuclear war fight with the Soviet Union(Russia). If you know your Cold War history, that particular event was called the "Cuban Missile Crisis" and had it not been for Kennedy's successful negotiation, the whole world could have been destroyed for all we know in nuclear bombings! He not only had the best interests for our country's safety but the the safety of the entire world. Plus I've never heard any negative viewpoints about his presidency. Think about it? Have you?

FDR... we went from a great depression... through WWII, fighting both the Germans and Japanese (even through Pearl Harbor)... when he was basically paralyzed from the waist down...

he didn't finish WWII though... but you can certainly see where we went from a great depression to basically a world superpower from the start of his term to the end... that's a crazy transformation...

and of course... Republicans can't follow directions...

FDR. Got us through the Great Depression, led us to victory in WWII and inspired millions with his calmness and personal courage.

And as for Ronald Reagan, he was second. Another great president who, with all his distance and lack of involvement in the daily running of the country, was able to inspire Americans. And I would not have said that 20 years ago.

Americans want a leader. Carter failed by whining about what terrible shape we were in. Clinton was fine - but tainted by personality flaws. Eisenhower was underrated - a fine president, while JFK was overrated. LBJ underrated and a man who was undone by Vietnam. Wilson had vision but was unable to persuade - being in a coma does that to one.

Bush will be remembered for Iraq. Time will tell what his legacy is but it looks bad for the boy.

Jimmy Carter. He managed to disprove 80 years of Keynesian Economic Theory with double-digit inflation AND unemployment.

Not to mention, he gave away the Panama Canal so the Chi-Coms could buy it up!
