How about:

"To appreciate the Early Christian music of Jerusalem is to journey through the ritual, worship, and culture of that time."

"A significant aspect of religious history is embodied in the Early Christian music of Jerusalem."

"The Early Christian music of Jerusalem rises from history to express the prayers and worship of believers through time."

...or something along those lines...maybe?

"Then Miriam the prophetess, Aaron's sister, took a tambourine in her hand, and all the women followed her, with tambourines and dancing!"
Exodus 15:20

I don't know what a thesis statement is, but maybe that will help, a quote from the bible regarding music.
