i dont know how old you are or what level of school you are in but i'll to explain this as easy as possible.
you see, the 'dot' of the 'point' often heard as the 'decimal point' is the boundary of numbers from 0 to a number bigger than one or less than one.

likethe number 2.5, youe see that 1 is an exact number bigger than 2 while .5 is lesser that 1 and is actually only half of it.

if we tabulate number in decimals , we will have:

10,000,000.0000000000

as you can see, the numbers on the left side of the decimal point is classified from 'one's, 'tenths', 'hundredths' and so on by simply looking at the comma. while on the right side it jus simply continues.

in your problem, you just calculate all the math and you will have the answer:

see how we do this manually and pay strict attention to the changes

(6*100)+(7*10)+(8*1)+(2*1/10)+(4*1/100)+(1*1/1000)
600 +70 +8 +(2*0.1) +(4*0.01) +(1*0.001)
600 +70 +8 + 0.2 +0.04 +0.001

lets re-write the last equation similar to the table i gave above

600.000
070.000
008.000
000.200
000.040
000.001
-----------

do you get it? i hope this is not an easy way to get thru you homework
