We always went back to visit family in July- August. Due to birthdays mainly. It was hot and sticky but I am told this is due to being Pennsylvania and it is always this way? Been there a dozen times or so.
Pretty state. Last time we were there I sure wanted to see all the historical things there. Grandma was in no shape to travel....
Have fun fun fun there :0)

Whatever floats your boat, I guess.
My suggestion would be early October. You should have a great view of the fall foliage, that'll be really pretty, and odds are really good the weather should be mild, sunny, and dry.
