First, as each individual cast member was introduced, the picture
was black & white, then the shot filled with color, at which point the
cast member's name was superimposed; I'd like to know why that was. (This also happened with the show title, by the way). The other thing is, when two or more cast members were introduced in a row,
there was a wipe between them. The earliest you'd see this wipe is when
the first two are introduced (Ed Flanders and David Birney in S1, then
Flanders and Norman Lloyd from that point forward); in fact, that wipe
even occurred from the title card to Flanders, and also resumed the
introductions from the action shots that were interspersed between
them. I'd like to know, what was the purpose of that
wipe?

maybe they did that to grab the viewers attention

is this show still on on some network or do you remember all this from 20+ years ago
