What is love and how does it work (in marriage, dating, etc.)?

There are many different ways that people have looked at love over the years. For example:

Voltaire : Love is an intangible and indescribable thing.

Neitche(?) : Love is nothing more than a way for the species to procreate.

Modern Science: Love is a flood of neurochemical chemical cascades and neural pathways that form our feelings.

What is love, how does it work and how is it created or destroyed? And if one feels 'love' for another can he/she generate feelings in another who does not feel it?
Can love be implanted or removed from the system artificially (not by illegal drugs or illegal ways)?

Please explain your answers in respect to interpersonal/intrapersonal relationships and emotions of both parties. I thank you in advance for your insight.

Science & Neitche arent seperate doctrine.. in fact they are both the same.. Hearts are for pumping blood to the main system.. nothing more.. LOVE is a psycho/sexual response that happens in the brain...

Love is simply a perception.. its what makes you feel good at the time based on neurochemical transmitters and receptors in yer mind.. sorry nothing more nothing less.. a decent infusion of the right drugs would make you feel the same way or better if the right drugs) to a small house plant...
