I have a electric guitar and I am pretty good...I practice every day (it's a very fun hobby)...and I was wondering...what else should I know...I know most chords (I have a book)...but should I learn economy picking, what about sweep picking? Do you have any good sites to teach it (please no videos)...also...I have started a band (We are still gettting members) but we already have a song....any good music to play (not copyrighted) I need something to start with...I have an intro though.

Learning scales and finding a good book of guitar tablature (does not require the ability to read music) in a style, genre, or of a band that you like would be a great way to advance your abilities. Also, magazines like Guitar One offer tabs to songs as well as short lessons that are very beneficial to everyone from beginner to expert. Get a copy that has the CD included so that you can hear what the music passages sound like, and so that you can play along.

Sorry, but vidoes and DVDs are the way to go. You can learn advanced techniques from the professional and skilled guitarists. Your main goal should be learning all your scales and try to be a versatile as you can, by learning all kinds to techniques....that way you can play any kind of music with no problem. The more you practice, the better you'll be, and the better your ear will become. You'll eventually see what I'm talking about.
