I moved to this new school, I've been feeling really stupid lately. How come? ... And it's hard for me to give it my best effort for studying or something. Why is that? I'm really feeling very stupid because I'm getting 3.0s, 3.1s,and 3.2s on my report card. I want to get at least a 3.5 or higher .

I mean, what's wrong with me? How come it's becoming so hard??
(P.S. If you need to know, I'm in eighth grade)

Thanks in advance!

When I was in 4th grade my family moved me from a smaller lower middle class town to a larger middle class town. At the end of 4th grade they were starting to teach us multiplication. Then at the new school in 5th grade they were finishing division and fractions. So as a child I never really learned how to multiply and divide. I'd get C's and they just let me pass through the grades without ever really teaching either to me. It hindered me for many years until I was able (and willing) to teach myself.

I imagine your dilemma is the same. You may be doing worse because the new school district your in is more advanced. If this is not the case, maybe your feeling stress from the move. Going to a new school can be rough, especially in your teens. I also moved to another state after 9th grade; which made it hard to feel accepted because all the 'cliques' were already established. I managed tho, and you will too. Either way if your falling behind and need some help, ask your parents or guardians for some help or for a tutor. Studying with someone will help you internalize the information easier.

It's because u are in a new and different environment. You are looking at everything differently than the kids that are already living in the area. You are still soaking everyting in. Take a deep breath and realize in time you'll feel more calm, and then you'll have a better attention span. You'll make new friends get to know your teachers and have a great time. Trust me.

I would blame it on a combination of foreign territory and insecurity. When you move to a new place, it's totally normal to feel like a fish out of water. My advice is to be patient with yourself - connect with one person who seems like good friend material, and they'll draw you into the fold.

To improve your grades, draw up a study plan and stick to it. Talk to your teachers, they'll be more likely to help you if they know you. As you get older, school keeps getting harder and harder (unfortunately). Self-discipline and actually understanding the subject is key to getting good grades, especially through high school and college.

Good luck!

Maybe your new school is using different text books and some of the contents you are not familiar with? Give it your best efford for studying!

same w/ me. I'm in 8th grade and now all my grades are dropping. i don't think it's anyones fault. I think that it's just getting harder. MAybe if you study harder for tests and do homework on a daily basis, that might help.
