I'm going into 9th too. Cheerleading refers to both guys and girls. I say you try out. If half the guys at my school had your gut maybe thay wouldn't be so stupid around girls. As long as you can handle the physical demand go for it. Guy Cheerleaders make everything so fun. If anyone makes fun of you then ask them if they've ever gotten close to 25 girls. Bet you they won't have an answer. I have all the respect for Cheerleaders. Good Luck!

There are both female and male cheerleaders, and yes cheerleading is for boys too. I had 2 guys on my cheerleading squad in high school. They were the main supports to our pyramids and without them, several of our tricks would have been imposible to do. It's great exercise and you get to work with the girls. If you get any flack from the other guys ask them how close to the girls are they able to get.

Cheerleading for guys is simply called Cheerleading. You would being on a co-ed squad. I am a cheerleader of 11 years and I would kill for a guy to be on my squad. Guys on a squad make it more fun. I know a few male cheerleaders that I personally stunted with and I did stunts that I never knew how to do before. And since you want to be a cheerleader, talk to some of the girls on the squad, they will gladly hook you up with it.

Yeah ! I'm a cheerleader and we have five guys on our team. They're all so straight that nobody at our school would ever dare call them gay. They party like every night, get into fights, and all this crap. All of them can bench about 190-200 lbs, and I think the only reason they joined was so that they could flip, lift, and look up our skirts. lol.

Kid, if you're a guy going into the 9th grade you had best avoid cheerleading like the plague unless you prefer torture also. Keep that one in the closet until you get to college.

Yes, there are boy cheerleaders. Not all schools have them though. They are mostly in colleges.

Ignore those who say boy cheerleaders are gay. They're immature idiots who don't know what they're talking about.
All cheerleaders are ATHLETES (male and female). They're just jealous they're not athletic enough to do the stunts the cheerleaders (also gymnasts, dancers) do.

It's...cheerleading. Dude, no prob. You can do it. The best cheerleader my school ever had was a guy, and that's NO exaggeration. Shame he graduated and stuff...

Neways, if people think you're gay, then more power to you. It shows that you can go against them, not give in to peer pressure, and do what really makes you happy. That takes alot of courage.
