I just ordered a Macbook Pro, and I am hoping to use it w/ my viewsonic 17" monitor. The macbook is widscreen, and the monitor is not. Will this present a problem? What settings, if any, will I have to adjust to make it work with appearing distoreted?

Don't worry,it's a Mac. You turn it on and it just works. Enjoy your new found freedom to express yourself.

The resolution might be slightly off. The MacBook Pro should have a DVI connector so you'll want to make sure you have a converter if the widescreen does not have DVI.

yes you can. The pros video card supports many formats.

it says here under Display- supported resolutions:

http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/specs.html

a few of them are 4:3.

I hope this helps you.
