Hi. I am a Mary Kay Consultant and have been for 11 years. The product you have does not sound like its old, however it does sound like its been stored in a place that is too hot. Overheating or freezing the product will do damage to the product. Mary Kay offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee. I would either 1) take it back to your the consultant you got it from (whether a gift or not) and show it to her and ask for a replacement. She is not going to be out of pocket any money as the corporate office will replace it for her. 2) contact another consultant and ask if they're willing to do this exchange for you (if they're like me they would) this one time and explain the situation or 3) throw it out and buy a new one.
If you have more questions on Mary Kay you are free to contact me hewsilver10@yahoo.com

some products change/degrade when exposed to heat or cold. most face products have a "shelf life" of optimal use. perhaps this bottle (not the sample) was exposed to very high or very low temperature (or it expired) and caused the product to change consistency. i would politely tell the giver that you were so excited to get the BD present b/c you had used a sample and it had worked so well! i would then as her if the sample lotion was supposed to look the same as the bottle lotion b/c the latter had white chunks in it. ask her if you are supposed to shake it before use or if she thinks it just might be better to try a different bottle of the product. give the choice to her. if she sells it she needs to know if it is a "bad lot" so that one of her clients won't be upset with the same problem. i'm sure if you do it kindly she will exchange it for you.

I have been in Mary Kay for 6 1/2 years and typically EVERY product is 100% guaranteed but I understand your delima with it being a gift. I can send you a new one for this time if you feel comfortable sending me your mailing information. But no matter what you decide, please do not use it on your face because it actually should be a lotion type texture and the one you are using is bad.

It sounds to me that the lotion is old or it was exposed to excessive heat. There is a code on the bottle(usually on the bottom).
The first letter tells you what year it was bottled.
A-2000, B-2001, C-2002, D-2003, F-2004, H-2005, K-2006, M-2007
The second letter tells you what month it was bottled.
A-Jan., B-Feb., C-Mar., D-April, F-May, H-June, K- July, M-Aug., R-Sept., T-Oct., V-Nov., X-Dec.
The last numbers tell you what date it was bottled.
Example: HT25 = October 25, 2005

If it's a bday present, don't say anything about it. If you happen to buy the product later then tell her you want to check it out first on your hand.
I would be leary of Mary Kay, only because they will try to get you to be a rep. My niece who had just turned 18 was talked into (her fault) purchasing a kit ($2,000.00) worth of makeup etc.. She is still trying to unload it 5 years later.

My sister sells Mary Kay as well...she told me that if I ever got something that was not exactly what I wanted or if there was something wrong with it, she could easily return it for a new one. It happens.
Tell your friend you feel silly asking her to exchange it because it was a gift from her, but it just looks like it may be spoiled. She shouldn't have any issue returning or exchanging.

YES you should tell her mom.Her mom should let you know what's going on with the product.the sample you got also may be different than what you got for your birthday. If your skin feels oily after you put it on you are putting too much on.But please go straight to her mom and let her know . That's part of her job as a beauty consultant.Don't tell your friend to get you a different one go straight to her mom with the problem.Plus the products do have an experation date on them .Have any troubles let me know .I am a consultant too.danaub2003@yahoo.com

Tell her it fell in your toilet and you'd like to purchase another bottle. If you feel like her supply might be old then order it from someone else secretly. Do not ask for a new bottle, that is so cheap and rude. Sorry.
