In Nebraska specifically the State Patrol you need to be at least 21 yoa at graduation from a 6 month long basic training. You must also pass a background investigation and not have any felonies or serious misdemeanors on your record. If you get thru the preliminary stages a polygraph will be given before basic starts. In the state of Nebraska no college is required. It can be help full. Prior Military is a good thing. Good Luck it is a great profession.

No criminal record and a diploma or ged. Basiclly its very easy, if you can shoot a gun and drive a car. I am certified, some of my classmates are dumb as a box of rocks and they're cops now. There are very many people who are cops who shouldn't be, but I dont make the requirements up. These are the officers who patrol for 25 years, others make Captain or SWAT. If you want to be a cop, its not hard. But I wouldn't work in a huge city if I were you.

they vary city to city and state to state. best thing to do is to contact your local PD and ask for that information. I think being 21 is pretty much the first and basic qualification.

be stupid, lazy, shiftless, eat donuts, prefer to write speeding tickets than catch criminals, overreact when one of your stupid partners takes one in the head, and be an ******.
