He had Knee surgery, they played it off well with his last match against Chavo Guerrero, where Chavo bashed his knee several times with a chair, Rey will be back though

Their rivalry came to a head at SummerSlam, but nothing was resolved as Vickie accidentally knocked Rey to the canvas, leading to his elimination. Vickie later shocked the world when she unexpectedly hit Rey with a chair when she was supposedly trying to maintain peace between her nephew and her friend. During a brutal I Quit Match, Chavo decimated Rey's left knee with a steel chair, forcing the high-flying Superstar to take time away from the ring and undergo surgery. Doctors speculate that Rey can eventually return to competition.

He had been wrestling with a bad knee for several years. He finally decided to have surgery. That is why he lost the I quit match with Chavo Jr. He should be back in 3 to 4 months.

Ray is still active. He was drafted in January to Smackdown. During a match, Jericho managed to rip of Rey's mask. This could be the reason why he hasn't made any appearances of late.

Remember a couple months ago when Cavo Guererro challenged Rey to an I Quit match? Well he lost because he had a serious injury to his right knee.

AROUND OCTOBER OR SO HIM 7 CHAVO WERE IN AN I QUITE MATCH. CHAVO STARTED BEATING MY POOR REY REY'SLEG WITH A CHAIR. KNOW HE HAS TO GET SURGERY!! THEN AROUND NOVEMC=BER OR SO HE HAD HIS SURGERY WHICH WENT EXTREMELY WELL SO THEY PREDICT THE HE WOULD BE BACK IN 4-6 MONTHS.
HE'LL BE BACK REAL SOON!! I LOVE HIM!! LOL IM HIS # 1 FAN!! GO REY REY!!!

he lost an "i quit" match to chavo and the rule was who ever said i quit should leave the wwe for good.And also rey broke his ankle during the match , he is recovering now after his operation.
