My 10 year old daughter had a tantrum and decided to break my cellphone ( which is a flip phone ) She snapped it in two pieces at the hinge. I have insurance, can it be repaired?

You know what....everyone's answers should have been on the phone issue. Your child breaking the phone.....it happens. Other people need to mind their own business.
At any rate as far as the phone, that would be considered 'damaged beyond repair' so yes, most are right, you will need to submit a claim, which for Sprint is $50 deductable. You would first want to contact Customer Care and just verify the insurance to make sure you really do have the insurance so you aren't stuck with large fee or anything. I hope that helps.

Considering she is only 11, and you more than likely are paying for the phone, you have nothing to worry about. Wait a minute, maybe you do. I cannot even imagine where an 11 year old got the idea to sue and get a lawyer, and also you better get a hold of your anger a little better.Taking the phone away, was one thing, throwing it against the wall, went over the top, don't you think?

Cell phones can be easily repaired/ replaced.
More central to the issue is your daughters anger, and her lack of respect for your property. She definitely should be held accountable for destroying something that was not hers. If this is what she does at age 10, imagine later in life, or in shcool, ir involving people who might not be as understanding as her mom! I would recomend holding her accountable for this incident. If she has an allowance, should pay for the phone, and remain grounded until it is paid for. She must not ever get the message that this behavior is ok.
Again you can replace the phone; go to the nearest Cingular, or T Mobile etc place and get a phone, if you have insurance, even better. But you should make sure that this is the last phone she breaks.

Well I would take something of hers away and lock it up for at least two weeks, something that she really likes. She has to learn that its unacceptable to destroy other peoples property, I would also stop her pocket money until the damage was paid for and most importantly follow through with the punishment or she will think she can get away with such behavior. Be strong and she will get the message.

I would make her stand in the corner, or I would spank her. She needs to be punished. Maybe you could ground her for 2 years. What a bad child you have raised. You should get your phone fixed with the insurance, but you should be a better parent also. It sounds like you need some help with being a parent. Maybe you should go to thearpy, or read a book on how to be a good parent.

OK...I agree that she should be punished, but don't you hate it when someone with no kids tells you how to do it? Try the insurance, but if they don't cover that, make her save her allowance and buy you a new one. Good luck!

Take away her favorite thing for say...one week or however you feel is long enough for her to learn her lesson! Maybe she needs anger management? I hope things get better for you!
