Unless you are able to stay in high school for a few extra years, I don't really think it's possible to have your GPA shoot from a 2.5 to a 3.7 in a year and a half....

Perhaps if you're able to enroll in some honors or AP courses, you might have a chance of it going up a little more than normal....but even then - 3.7 is sorta pushing it....

DEFinitely strive and work hard for As for here on out.....because it's definitely not too late to get your GPA higher than what it is, of course - just maybe not a 3.7, is what I'm saying...

Why a 3.7, though, anyway? I'm not sure if you know or not, but you can get to college with a much lower GPA - not to discourage people from striving for high GPAs or anything...but if you're already in the 11th grade, there's only so much you can do at this point...if you're trying to get it at that specific goal...

But unless there's something you forgot to mention - like you're trying to get in one of the top five or ten colleges in the country or something - it is still very possible for you to get in college...

You could use FastWeb.com and other college websites to find out admission information on things like the list of colleges with lenient GPA ranges...

And another option is going to a community college for a few years - long enough to do what you need to do and take what you need to take, in order to get to that college or university you're trying to get to attend...

Hopefully all of that makes sense....

I would definately try to raise that GPA and junior year is very important as well as first semester senior year. So your goal now is to buckle down and show admissions officers that you made a serious effort to improve. I would not focus so much on the 3.7 and I'm not sure why you would "need" such a specific number. Just focus on doing your best on each and every exam.
Also, are you really involved in things outside of school? For example, if you were an amazing musician lower grades wouldn't be as much of a problem. As well as pointing out your increased effort in your studies, you will also have to highlight extracirriculars to which you are very committed.

There's no way to get to a 3.7 by graduation without having "weighted" grades give you a chance of 5.0 on a 4.0 scale and you get all A's in all those classes, or you take many many more classes than you have taken so far in high school and get straight A's.

The best advice I can give is to see your school counselor. He/she will be able to point you in the proper direction for extra help in bringing your grades up. Your school might have a program or designated tutors for this sort of thing. If not, they can advise you of where to look in your community. Do not give up. Education is the best and only way in America (pretty much) to receiving the type of job and income you desire.

my advice would to to study you do realize that after your junior year your gpa means nothing. Your senior gpa does not count towards college the only thing they see is your junior gpa. I suggest you work VERY HARD second semester. Your senior year colleges will LOOK at your grades but your final gpa is actually done during your junior year.
