Have you thought about what this may do to the labor market for doctors?

They're already fed up with having to deal with medicaid/care.

Doesnt matter if Single Payer Socailized system or a hybrid system like the US. Costs will not go down unless people accept there are limited resources avalible to treat all diseases. In 1950 the average American lived to 68 by 2006 its about 76 years. Therefore, putting more money into the system is useless at this time, and adminstrative costs of healthcare in the Untied States is 33% versus 3% in Canada, but both systems if you fancy desinger treatment your gonna pay up no matter what because insurance systems cant reason paying 500k for a treatment that wont help the person live much longer. Indirectly we already having universal healthcare, but the problem whos paying for it. Electronic recording, billing all need to be uniform, and Utah billing system is universal and uniform, and healthcare cost inflation been in check because of unform procedures for billing, coding. We need to fix the adminstrative problems with healthcare, and republicans want to play that the goverment will make medical for you that is smoking the issuse, and the democrats claiming insurance companies are screwing the comsumer. The reality is healthcare system is curropt in America, and patients, doctors, CEOs, illegals pad the system and we the taxpayer or payor get stuck with the tax bill. Single Payer system would reduce taxes actually because the costs are no longer indirect and open to public view, but in Canada your waiting a year for a hip replacment. Yet, freemaket for healthcare can work if regulations, and laws are streamlined and uniform, and billing, coding are uniform. Universal healthcare is the cheapest system because the costs are spread across the whole population. Free Market system can provide the solution to it, but also can single payer soicalized system. If costs are not rein in or locked down no healthcare reforms will work.

Sounds great to me!! The insurance in this country is a joke. They do what they want and answer to no one. We, the middle class citizens of this country, are the ones who suffer. The poor get medicaid( which has much room for improvement), the rich get the best healthcare available because they can afford it. The rich politicians in office, get the best medical care available, paid for by the taxpayers of this country. We, the middle class, pay the taxes to support all this, while we can't afford insurance for ourselves or our families. It is time for all Americans rich, poor and the middle income to be able to have equal quality health care. Let the rich politicians pay for their own insurance and medical care, and leave us some of our own money to help us afford health care, too. The working people of this country should have some benefits.

That would be great all the doctors nurses would be Federal employees just like the guy down at the Post office. Hospitals, emergency rooms, and Doctor offices would be closed on Federal holidays. You could wait four months to get an MRI just like they do in Canada.

Eventually you'd have to go to a government bureaucrat for approval before you could even see a Doctor, if there were any doctors.

Can't wait, hope I'm dead before it happens.

Well ... which one? ... do we already get taxed enough, or else should we have universal healthcare and get taxed even more?

That's why they say economics is about allocating scarce resources to meet unlimited wants!

I thought you said we get taxed enough? Universal health care costs MONEY! Just check out the tax rates of the countries that have universal health care. You might want to check out the QUALITY of said health care as well. Notice how people who can afford it come to the U.S. and PAY to have operations? You get what you pay for, so if you want Quality Universal Health Care, kiss goodbye to about 50% of your Gross Annual Income.
