Other than the smart alec answer the first guy gave, you can get a can of compressed air to blow debris out of the keyboard. Get a nice carrying case for when you want to move from one location to another. Clean the screen with a SOFT, DAMP cloth. Not soggy, just damp. When the machine is off, you can dust the area around the keyboard with a soft cloth. Don't leave it sit in the sun, by a window, etc. Get a "chill pad" to dissipate the heat. DO NOT EVER CHECK IT WITH YOUR LUGGAGE. I don't know why people can't figure that one out. Generally, treat it like a box of eggs. It is sturdier than that, but you don't want to find out.

Get a separate keyboard and mouse. clean the screen daily with a damp (not wet) cloth. dust the laptops mouse and keboard daily. and get anti-virus programs (not norton cause norton is a virus itself) and firewalls and thats about it.

Knew? Don't you mean new? You can periodically replace the keyboard and casing as they get worn. Clean it periodically. That's about it.
