I am running aol safety and security center's anti virus and windows xp is telling me that aol anti virus is out of date. When I check, aol says that it is up to date. Are there compatibility issues with these two products? Should I switch off the windows advice and just follow aol?

aol sucks that if you are on broadband you don't need the aol software to check your email or im... just make aol.com your homepage

get an antivirus like avg
and spyware like avg or windefender

Forgive my critical question but why would anybody ever buy AOL?

They charge $22.95 a month just for dial-up when anywhere else in North America you can get it for $9.95 or so.

But the worst feature is that AOL is proprietary which means it makes its own rules.

Of course it does operate as a general store so that newbies whoi just like to press a button and not search for their information can be taken to that "dept" right away.

In our computer club (600 members) we say that anyone can learn to search for their own material with a little practice and with a great deal of satisfaction.

Sorry for the prejudicial remarks but AOL is really not a barghain for any discriminating user but rather a broiwser for folks who want a "spoonfed" system with little or no effort.

Never get a antivirus software from aol. It's no good.

Get rid of the aol one, then get an antivirus/firewall separately for your computer.

We have McAfee Security Center. We can get aol's,but I told hubby no.

McAfee separately works better. There's no conflicts with the computer.
