Shaq is going to start at center for the East despite playing only 5 games this season, and only starting 4. Do you guys think it is fair? Or should the NBA make a limit to how many games a player should play during the season in order to start in the all-star game?

No, it's very unfair and is the result of a skewed and biased system. Dwight Howard and Eddy Curry both deserve to be starters much more than fat Shaq. The only reason Shaq was picked is because he's popular, and that's all the All-Star game really is, unfortunately, a big huge popularity contest like back in high school where people voted for whoever had the "prettiest" eyes, or some other stupid thing like that. It's a big shame. There are so many great players who never get to be starters because stupid fans only follow stupid hype and don't really care about who truly deserves recognition, they only care about whoever is the media darling.

Shaq is over the hill, so he does not rightfully deserve to be in the game at all. Of course because all-star voting is a popularity contest, not a talent show, there's nothing we can do about it. Remember back in 1992, when Magic Johnson made the team despite having been retired for 5 months.

Thats what happens when we let bandwagon fans vote. This shouldn't be a popularity contest. Unfortunately, too many players are left out because of idiotic people. The NBA needs take a hard look at this and correct the problem. Maybe they should follow the way the NFL does it. They usually get it right. By the way, Nash and Norwitski also deserve to be starting in the west.

Shaq shouldn't even be in the all-star game this year, overall starting. He's averaging 12 points a game.

I think the fans are voting people in because of name value. He only played in 5 GAMES!!!!! Come on people!!!! There are other big men in the East that are having better games. Let some other people get a chance......

That is the unfortunate portion of having fans vote for these type of things. True the game is for the fans, but still wouldnt you like to see the players that have performed this year rather sat out.

hell no. hes been riddled with injuries for the first of the season. how is then that we have so much more talented players on the east such as the veteran vince carter, eddy curry, jamal crawford, joe johnson, caron butler, antwawn jamison, paul pierce, michael redd, emeka okafor, dwight howard, and maybe even jermaine o neal? shaq is just too overrated these days. hes getting old but ppl arent realizing it.

Yeah, it's fair because it's the FANS who pay their salaries, so let the FANS decide who they want to see in the All-Star game.
