Bonds

Lets take out the equation of steroids. Because chances are they were both doing it. I feel they both cheated. Granted they both could hit, but Barry was the most feared hitter ever to play the game. Sosa was never in the category of Bonds.

I am from Chicago and have followed Sosa's entire career. Bonds hands down.

Both of these guys have been in the middle of controversy. Sosa in 2005 had horrible numbers and could not find a contract. Last year Sosa couldn't find a team to play on. This year he has signed with the Rangers and still needs to make the team. Sosa has taken a year off from the big leagues and almost has become forgotten. Bonds, always in the middle of steroid controversy. Bonds clearly isn't a everyday player. But he is a way better player than Sosa. Personally both of these playes could be on Steroids but since Sosa has taken a year off the bigs and was known for the Cork scandal his name isn't thrown in with steroids. Bonds clearly is the better player even though he can't play defense much anymore, Sosa could never play defense.

if you look back 10 years ago when both were young, they were pretty comparable. Sosa was more of a hard-nosed outfielder, while Bonds was more graceful. Both were good hitters but i think bonds was more consistent. Years ago, both were good base stealers too. Steroids or not, both are world class ball players that deserve credit for how they play the game. If it came down to who i want in the bottom of the ninth to drive in a run, i would probably go with Bonds, but thats a tough call.

Bonds without a doubt

Barry Bonds. He may be old, slower and has a lot of legitimacy questions over steroid use, but he can still scare pitchers into walking him 200 times a season (when healthy). Sammy can't say that.
