I just got a computer and it randomly restarts itself if I'm not touching it, I'm not sure why it does it since I'm not near the comp when it does....how do I fix this

It could be a heat issue or a RAM issue or a driver issue. You need to set it so it doesn't restart after a fatal error and you will then see what the error is.

The bios setting "wake on lan" may be enabled and when it gets a signal from ethernet controller it starts. Go to the bios and carefully check the settings.

If it is a new laptop do what Shawn says.

If u bought a used laptop i suggest getting a anti-virus and scanning the computer.

if u need any go to CNET download.com and download some free anti-virus programs.

If you just got the computer and it restarts, contact the manufacturer for warranty support.
