I got the trailer and land to open a hot dog stand, does anyone have any ideas abut what to call it? How to cook? What to cook besides Hot Dogs? Is it a good ideal? Should I make it drive thur or come in at a counter? Any ideals will be helpful.

My father owned a mobile hot dog stand. He called it "Crazy Joe's". Stick with something simple for a name. In Chicago, we have a very popular hot-dog chain called "Portillo's".

Hot dog stands are one of those businesses that succeed almost anywhere, regardless of location (if the hot dogs are good and you're not selling them out in the middle of a cornfield).

A drive-thru would be hard to manage. Start with walk-up's -- more customers can congregate or stand in line, and the line looks shorter / less intimidating.

May want to look into selling Individual size bags of chips, soda, Italian beef (or cheefs), fries, shakes, and fresh lemonade. It also wouldn't hurt to have a gimmick or a theme, like talking bluntly to the customers (as part of the entertaining experience), or giving the place a rockabilly look (black with flames, rockabilly music playing). Have fun. Be fun.

I always like when they grill my bun. We had a little hot dog joint down the road run by a little old lady and she always grilled the hot dog and bun together with a little butter. I do the same thing at home and they are to die for! Grill your hot dog first then when its ready throw a little butter in the pan/grill top and put the hot dog in the bun, turn it over for a minute or two until its browned. The kids love 'em and so does everyone else. It makes them extra special. Make some good homemade coleslaw and chli and you are in business! Keep it simple!

All the best!
