80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

Survival. No matter what happens. You go on. If you don't choose to survive then you succumb (give up, give in to addictions that destroy you) & you die. Choose to live & make the best of it. Enjoy your life. That's all the meaning we need.

Sometimes it can be tough. Sometimes life seems random & meaningless. There is still beauty in this life that makes it worth living. Just get past the ugliness, just get through the pain and find happiness.

I just asked the same question heheh!! well guess what I dont know!!! we are all condemn to suffer and death. I think that finding a meaning for our lives is one of our purposes. Thats part of the journey. I think that the way to start is by trying to build a strong relationship with God, and trying to understand (if possible) why He/She acts the way He/She does. I feel so impotent sometimes because is hard to know what to do, when your future is uncertain, and our meaning hard to find, but theres hope and you are in the right path. I think that any human who doesnt worry to find a meaning to his life lacks much. Good luck finding your answer, because no one but urself will be able to answer it. Much love and health for you....Angie

Life: the period during which something is functional (as between birth and death).

Anthropic principle: Life exists because the conditions of the universe were such to allow it to exist. If that wasn't the case, then we wouldn't be here to observe it and ask questions about it.

Everybody defines their own life.
