Yeah, I thought homosexual people just wanted the same rights as married people do. I didnt realize the wanted the same name, marriage. I am not religious at all but I mean if you read any type of Bible don't they say marriage b/w a man or a women. Personally I don't care what it is called but crazy religious people seem to havea problem with it.

A civil union is easily diverse from a marriage finished at a courthouse. a marriage, no count if finished in a church or in a courthouse has actually over one thousand reward which contain tax deductions, wellness care perks, etc that are known by way of the federal government. A civil union would not. Separate yet equivalent did not artwork on the lunch counters interior the '40 and '50's, and it won't artwork right here. Gays could have equivalent rights--not something particular, yet not extra, no much less. All that mentioned, I do think of that church homes could have the superb to refuse to accomplish any marriage that conflicts with their ideals. stable success buddy.

I think a much better question is why are you people so possessive of a word? You act as if it's being "stolen." Well, Christianity has done it's fair share of stealing too. How many pagan religions/holidays have been twisted to have Christian significance? You're just being micro-managing. Quit trying to claim everything as your sole property and just live your lives as you believe you're supposed to, instead of stomping your feet and throwing a fit over things other people do that doesn't effect you in the slightest. You'd come across as a lot more dignified and secure in your beliefs.

And that little extra all-caps rant you added at the end there? Not helping you look more dignified, and I don't think it turned anyone straight either, dear. Why don't you take a xanax and calm down?

Yeah, and African Americans should have been happy with their own section in the back of the bus, right?

The state has no business issuing marriage licences to ANYONE, gay or straight. Civil union should be the state recognized legal status, with weddings/marriage left up to churches...and that means that gays COULD marry, as some churches have no problem with the concept.

and since when is law based on what you "personally beleive"?

My point is that is is obstensibly a violation of the principles of this country to issue a group of citizens second-class status. You're making a fool of yourself. You DO realize, do you not, that very few species mate for life? It's your problem, not mine, that you disregard the reality of science, Little Miss Allcaps.

Well, if you were on the otherside of the fence and you wanted to get married and you didn't get the same rights that other married people get wouldn't you feel that was unfair?

A civil union doesn't give the same equality in rights.

The only kind of response I can ever seem to think of with these questions is; why is it any of your business?
