Start by not looking at it as work, or as a bad thing. Thats by far the most important thing you can do.
Next, here's what my daughter does, and so far, it has worked for her. She's 9 by the way. Once a week, she cleans her room, from top to bottom. Dusts, vacuums, etc... Next, when it comes to clothes you need a hamper for your dirty clothes, not a pile mixed in with clean ones. Dirty clothes come off yer body, and straight into a hamper. If you do your own laundry, or if your mom or dad does it, go fold it, hey why not do it while watching TV. I do. But if you spend 1 hour a week, only cleaning your room, put your dirty clothes into a hamper, and when you are done folding your clothes, which by the way, you gotta do this when they are finished in the dryer, otherwise they will get all wrinkled. But when you are done folding them, put them away right away. It only takes a couple minutes.
But like I said, you just gotta change your mind about it, dont look at it as work, look at it as improving your life. Just think, when you are an adult, living on your own, no one is going to pick up after you. So its best to get in that frame of mind and start doing it now.
Best of luck....

A very good idea is to (as someone said) get a hamper in your bedroom, just nag your parents until they'll get you one, mention that it will keep your room cleaner. (If you're in school) Get one of those clear plastic drawers, and keep books, papers, and important Keep-all-year items in there. Listen to music while you organise, call a friend to help you (be prepared to help them back) and in no time, it will be done :)

kid, one way or another, these things have to get done, whether you like it or not. today i have to clean the bathroom, do the dishes, clean my room, wash my blankets, and on top of that i must wash the car. my point is that chores pile up if you dont do them right away. if you do them, its done with and you have nothing to worry about. if your sick, just postpone them for a while until you get better. there is no miracle cure for clearing up chores. thats another lesson you need to learn in the adult world...
feel better!!! :)

well maybe when you have time...go through all of your things and take out what you dont really care to have in your room.....the less things you have the easier it is to clean...maybe your parents can buy you some storage boxes and you can organize your things in them and whenever you need something you will know exactly where it is :)

It is so cool that you want to take care of your own stuff. Way to go! I also think it is great that you know there are ways to make it easier. One way is to get organized!
Get rid of stuff you don't use.
Put stuff where you use it.
Store some stuff away that you don't need right now.
Start by getting help from your parents if you can. They can help you lift and reach, show you how to use cleaning products safely, give you ideas on how to store things, and take you shopping for items to help you get organized.
Also make sure you tell your parents if you can't reach stuff in your room, maybe they can lower the closet hanging rod, or get you a footstool, so you can put your own stuff away easy.
Get some containers just to sort things in, you are borrowing them, like laundry baskets or cardboard boxes. First thing is to use them for anything that doesn't belong in the room. Dirty clothes, dirty dishes, stuff you borrowed, stuff that goes somewhere else in the house. Take those things out of your room and put them where they go.
Then you can use your containers for things that you don't want to keep anymore. If you have outgrown clothes or if it won't fit when it is time to wear that thing again...your parents can help you get rid of it. Maybe you can pass it on to a younger brother or sister. Maybe they can sell it for you, or take you to a donation place to give it to someone who needs things.
Then sort your clothes and maybe your other items for the seasons. Warm clothes stay out because it is winter. Summer clothes get put away for later. Your parents can help you stick it up high so it is out of your way.
Now that those things are out of the room, get help deciding where to put the furniture and actually getting that done. Then ask for help storing things up high, etc. You might be able to go shopping with your parents for cool items that can help you stay organized, like baskets and other containers. You can get banana boxes and 24-bottle beer boxes for free, which are good for storage too. If you want them to look cool you can cover them in gift wrap or fabric. With the right containers and putting the right things IN the containers your room will be easy to keep clean.
Ask for help getting stuff you don't use all the time, and stuff that is out of season, out of your way. Then all that is left to put away is stuff you need out all the time. Dust your shelves and other areas before you put things on them, and dust off each thing before you put it where it goes. Clothes can go on hangers or in drawers, books together, movies together, toys together, school stuff together. If you have collections of stuff, display them around the room. Then clean up the floor and your room is really clean and organized! Last thing to add to your room is a wastebasket or two, that way trash goes right to the can, instead of laying around.
To keep it clean, make sure if you make a big mess, like spill something, clean it up right away while the mess is easiest to clean up. And if you take something out to wear and then change your mind, put it back, not in the hamper, the bed or on the floor.
Everyday, you should look for stuff that doesn't belong and take it out of the room, check the trash, bring out your laundry. You should also go around the house and collect stuff that belongs in your room, and take it to your room. Then just put stuff where it belongs, and make your bed!
Every two weeks or so, you should wash your sheets and shake out your comforter, sweep and mop or vacuum your floor.
Every month or so, you should dust your furniture and stuff on shelves. You can do this with a vacuum cleaner, it is pretty easy.
Every six months or so, and after your birthday or gift holidays, you should go through all your stuff and see if you still really love all the stuff you have...get rid of some things.

Hire a neighbor pre-teen looking for some spending money. They'll work cheap and by their age, they usually know housework.

I think you have a great system now! my advice is, don't let it get so dirty, the more dirty it is, the more time it takes to clean!
