When the new government of USA was formed...?

There were probably fewer than 3 million people total on this continent when that esteemed gathering of leaders assembled to create this new land's Constitution. Just think of the leaders and intellectuals who were in Philadelphia and across the colonies.

We are now over 300 million.

Take a look at who is lining up for the Dems for 2008 and tell me where the rock-solid moral, Christian leadership can be found. Is it possible?

I'm not going to get into the Demo field for 08 as its far off and, despite the hype, very undecided so far.

But while we're all reading up on our scientific history perhaps we'll learn that Galileo's great advance wasn't saying that the world was round, something that as you point out was known for a long time. Instead, his extensive work with lenses and telescopes helped Galileo prove that Copernicus' theory was right - that the Earth moved around the sun and not vice versa.

And as for this statement, "But inorder to be governor you had to be a certain sect of Christianity" - well thank goodness we don't follow that anymore! In fact, my state's governor does not belong to any Christian sect. Some of my favorite people and family members happen not to be Christian and they are quite as moral as my Christian family and friends.

the judeo "Christian values " that our country was founded on is not about a Southern Baptist religious test. That is what they meant when they said religious test. A test for an actual sect of a religion not just being Christian was good enough. But inorder to be governor you had to be a certain sect of Christianity. that is what the test was all about.. The Crusades was a defensive war. The muslims were already attacking spain and coming northward. we though that by attacking their homeland we could drive them back to the middle east. Read up on Galileo more. He said alot more things than the earth was round to get in trouble wuith the government. Actually it says the earth is round in the BIble, so christians new it about 1000 years before everyone else. Christians help invent what we determine today as Science. most scientist of the old world said they wanted to unlock Gods secrets he put in our world. that is why we need a moral and Christian leader.
